Display Development is an independent design and marketing group that concentrates its efforts on very high performance visual imaging systems. With a proven 20 year track record the core team of Display Design is responsible for bringing over 100 displays to market, many of these displays where leading edge and award winning technology.
Jim Burns
Led by Jim Burns, Display Development provides an extremely broad based knowledge of digital video displays. Jim is active in the industry with CEDIA, CE, SMPTE, NATAS and was voted to The Academy of Digital Television Pioneers. Jim authored the Fixed Pixel Display calibration seminar as well as the technical curriculum for the Imaging Science Foundation video certification classes while acting as the companies Technical Director and is currently teaching select classes.
As a recognized authority within the industry, Jim
currently writes for Widescreen Review and
has worked as the Video Technical Editor for The
Perfect Vision. Previously Jim has
authored technical articles on DTV for Home Theater
Magazine and had been their Senior Contributing Editor.
Diffusion of Information
Because of
Jim's prominent position in the CE industry
Jim is spending much of his
time lecturing and teaching others about DTV. He
has given lectures on video engineering and marketing before many
diverse industry audiences. At the 2000 & 2001 WCES, CEA asked
Jim to participate on a panel on how to
market DTV and to share his experiences with
others in the industry.
Market Research
Engineering and product development skills are supplemented by a
strong marketing background.
Jim
designs and facilitates focus groups for DTV viewing. Work has been
done for Polk/Verity and
Jim was interviewed by Forrester Research for their current
report.
Prior Endeavors
Jim
worked
with
Runco International, Inc.
Jim
taught technical seminars and and also worked closely
with Runco's Product Development. Other
companies that
Jim, Inc. has
had
an active
involvement with are Gemini Industries, Inc.
and Sencore .
At Zenith Electronics Corp., Jim started as
Product Manager for Commercial Products and Professional Video.
Products under his development were the
PRO900X HDTV/Data Video Projector, LCD projectors, Video Wall
Monitors, and the Presentation Series of video/data monitors. Most
recently, he was product manager for the
New Technologies Group, and team leader of
Zenith's cutting edge DTV/HDTV product development team. While
working on Zenith's first HDTV products, he
created software innovations including one that is being patented.
Prior to Zenith, Jim was with Faroudja
Laboratories, premier manufacturer of broadcast video equipment and
video interpolation processors. He worked in

spent six years working in the industrial audio video market
designing video systems for smart classrooms, museum exhibits,
simulators and command and control centers.
